Humans of Encraftment - Anthea Ibell of Remix Plastic

We are highlighting a few of our stallholders with a "behind the scenes" look into who they are and their creative journey. We hope you enjoy learning a bit about the humans behind the products.

Tell us a little about yourself and your creative journey…

I have always loved being creative but sort of found myself running a creative business by accident! I set out to educate people about ways to reduce household waste and used plastic recycling as a way to engage people in conversations. It took over a bit as I have so many ideas and now is the main part of my business. Funny how things have circled around to include all the things I love!

I love being able to work when I am being productive and take a break when I am not. If I had to work 9-5 at an office, I would probably only get 3 hours of work done!

Our native fauna and flora are a big influence on my designs. I also love being given waste materials and seeing what they might turn into - the colours and qualities of the material often navigate the idea to the final design. I mainly laser cut my pieces and love it so much. Whenever my brain stops working with computer work, I switch to workshop stuff and get cracking with the laser!

I love chatting to people face-to-face. It can be a bit strange working on my own from home, I send products out into the world but there is a level that is missing with online. Encraftment Market is a great way to chat to people about my work and sustainability - and I love seeing repeat customers!
